“Having focused on sprint distance triathlon for 2019, I decided I wanted to take things up a notch and go for Ironman 70.3 in Taupo March 2020 and set my goal time as 5h30. This would be the longest event I had ever done and knew it would be a challenge as I have been plagued by a knee injury for some time which often flares up on longer runs.
My program was a great mix of both variation so I didn’t get bored in training. But also consistency so that I could see my progress over the weeks. I really enjoyed the strength and conditioning workouts through the app as it gave a good break from my normal swim/bike/run workouts. I also knew that improving my strength would be key to maintaining form in such a long race.
On race day I was able to let the training pay off and came in in a time of 5h04. I put in a good performance and above all was pain/injury free. I was thrilled to come in under my target and even ran a PB for the half marathon!
Simon’s support through the whole journey was incredible, from tweaks to my program to advice around tapering and nutrition really helped me stay calm and on track. I can’t wait to take on the next race to beat that 5h time!”

I was referred to Simon from my personal trainer with a long history of back and knee problems which were restricting my ability to exercise particularly run and play golf
I had already tried physio, osteopathy and orthopaedic surgeons. The assessment made sense to me looking at me as a whole person not just one joint problem. I am a GP. Simon found I had a very tight hip, restricted movement in both feet and over the coming weeks I was given exercises to do an became pain free – able to play golf and run pain free.
All of my family have since been for various rugby injuries and all have benefited. I have also recommended you to all my friends, family and colleagues and patients. Great results!

I have always done sport and had never been bothered by injury. As I got older however I found that I was getting stiffer and suffering more overuse injuries. I was also not looking at my nutrition. I had a typical endurance approach to training which was that more was always better. About 12 months before starting with Simon I developed a hamstring and Achilles injury which despite a number of visits to physiotherapists could not get rid of. I continued to race until the injury started to impact on everyday activities. This led to me getting quite depressed and frustrated
I was sceptical that I would get the intensity that I was used to and was nervous that curing the injury would mean a long lay-off from running
The journey has been fascinating. By trusting in Simon and setting goals we have achieved all my goals for the year. A year on from starting with Simon I was able to complete a half ironman and my running is now stronger than it was previously. His approach to continuously monitor progress and change things keeps the training lively and I now have a far greater appreciation of the role of conditioning to enable me to participate in my sport. His approach has encompassed all aspects of sports performance including conditioning, flexibility, endurance and nutrition to make me the best I can be
I now feel far more confident and energised. I have a greater understanding of my body and its biomechanics. I know what to look out for and the exercises that I need to do daily to ensure I can run pain free. I have more confidence to set more ambitious goals and have lost weight and am more toned
